PPIE - Quality education is invaluable....Be a part of the solution!

PPIE - Quality education is invaluable....Be a part of the solution!

YOU can make a difference! PPIE is requesting $150 per student to protect valuable programs at risk of elimination for 2012-2013.  http://www.ppie.org/

For just $15/month you can impact the quality of education for one student!

Let's put it into context:

        • PPIE Education Foundation for Pleasanton students - $15/student/month
        • Daily dose of caffeine $30+/month
        • Fall activities/sports - $50-60/month
        • Monthly dinner out - $60/month (excluding babysitting services:))
        • Preschool - Minimum $150/month
        • Private School - $1000+/month
        • Quality education...priceless**

Just think, if we could sponsor every PUSD student at $150, we could raise over $2 million to support programs and services for our children.  We've already cut $21 million from the budget in the last 3 years alone.  Let's invest in our children's education...the foundation for life's opportunities.

**Donations are 100% voluntary and tax deductible.  To donate on-line http://www.ppie.org/ or drop your check made payable to PPIE in the designated box in the office.

Can you double your donation?   Check with your company about corporate matching.

For any other questions or feedback, please contact Debi Covello a tmail@ppie.org or Andrea Stokoe at astokoe@comcast.net

Roadrunner Boosters

We Need Your Help!

wgrr
This is going to be a great year full of learning and fun! To achieve this, we need your help. We would like to encourage families to make a direct donation to Walnut Grove Elementary through our "Dollar a Day" program. When you contribute to the Dollar a Day program, a 100% of your donation goes to supporting our students here at the Grove.

We request a booster donation of $1 a day for every day of school. That is just $180 per student for the entire year. Your "Dollar a Day" donation will provide funds to continue to support critical personnel and programs central to our children's learning.

Please take some time to reflect upon the impact a quality education has on our children and our community.

Some of the Programs that PTA Fund

        • $30 per child classroom stipend: this goes directly to the classroom teacher for individual classroom needs
        • Spelling bee

Benefit of Tax Deductibility
When considering how much to donate, please consider the following:
Most tax payers qualify for a 30%-50% tax deduction on donations to non-profits.

Walnut Grove PTA is a non-profit organization.
Therefore, if you gave $100, you'd be receiving a minimum of 30% back in taxes on that donation, resulting in your actual out-of-pocket donation ranging between $50-$70. And, Walnut Grove PTA would still receive $100.

Availability of Matching Funds
Finally, please check with your employers for matching funds! Bring your company forms to registration or drop them in the PTA room in the office and we will do all the processing on your behalf.

We are grateful for all the help and money that Walnut Grove parents give to better our children's education. Together with our teachers and staff we make this one of the top public schools in the state. In these tough economic times, it is up to us as a community to keep Walnut Grove top notch.

Contributions to Walnut Grove PTA are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. (Tax ID: 02-0547233)

    GATE CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

If your child is in 3rd grade and passed the CogAT, he or she has been identified as GATE. The CogAT is a natural aptitude test that measures a student's inductive and deductive reasoning abilities as well as their capacities in verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative tasks.

How can you help out with new parent GATE club?

There are many ways parents can help out with our newly created parent GATE club.

    *     Teach an enrichment workshop after school ONCE a year. You don't have to be a teacher to provide knowledge, experiences, and challenges for our children. They are eager to listen and learn.

    ·         You will just need to sign a volunteer clearance form at the beginning of the year.

    ·         Volunteer to be a snack helper for one of the enrichment classes when needed.

    ·         Join our Parent GATE Club and help plan engaging and fun workshop for our WALNUT GROVE students.

    ·         Contact your WG parent coordinator: andrea.wells@comcast.net if you are interested in joining us and see if there is any way to assist in enrichment instruction.

GATE club also sponsors MATH Club for ALL Walnut Grove students. Please contact your WG parent coordinator: andrea.wells@comcast.net if you are interested in more information.
